NLX STARBOY — Issue Three // The Return

The first step back into the fracture. Gemstone re-enters the rave, touches the old pattern directly, and learns that even the smallest move bends the whole system.

Issue 3

The Shift

Return Channel

Oracle light folding inward until the rave begins to bleed back through it.

Gemstone didn’t feel himself move.

There was no step. No tunnel. No clean transition.

Just a shift.

The Oracle chamber dropped away and sound came back first. Muffled. Distorted. Then sharper.

Bass. Voices. Motion. Heat.

When he opened his eyes, the rave was already there.

Issue 3

The Same Night

Back Inside

Lights carving through smoke, bodies moving, and the exact night he already survived once.

It was exactly as it had been. Lights cutting through smoke. Bodies moving like the room had one nervous system.

Everything alive.

But not the same.

Because now he knew what this night became.

Because now he knew what it cost.

Issue 3

The Watcher

Gemstone stood still in the middle of it, watching everything he had already lived once before.

Across the room, B-JAX.

Same posture. Same face. Same way of standing just outside the energy while still feeding off it.

Gemstone felt his chest tighten.

That’s the moment, he thought.

Not because it started there. Because that was the shape of it. The watching. The waiting. The access.

Issue 3

The Approach

B-JAX: Yo.

Gemstone: You ever feel like something’s off?

B-JAX: Off how?

Gemstone: You know what I mean.

B-JAX: You good, bro?

Gemstone stared at him, trying to see past the face and into the thing behind the timing.

For one second, something shifted behind B-JAX’s eyes.

Not panic. Not guilt. Recognition.

Then it was gone.

Issue 3

The Pullback

Gemstone stepped back.

Too early.

He wasn’t ready yet. Not for that close of a look. Not for what the timeline did when he pushed against it.

The room didn’t change at first.

The structure underneath it did.

A conversation fired a little earlier than it should. Somebody moved out of sync. A reaction landed before the cause.

The whole scene started slipping.

Issue 3

The Cost Starts Small

Structural Distortion

One tiny interference, and the whole strand starts wobbling around it.

Then he felt it.

Not in the room. In the timeline.

Like the whole night had become aware of him being there twice.

The bass stretched. Faces blurred. Light dragged across the air like the scene was being pulled out of frame.

He understood it immediately.

Small changes propagate.

Issue 3

Thrown Back

Everything pulled hard.

Not metaphorically. Not emotionally.

Hard.

Like the timeline rejected the contact and snapped him loose from it.

One second the rave was in front of him.

The next second the chamber was back.

Cold. Wide. Waiting.

Issue 3

Interference

Gemstone: That didn’t work.

Oracle: You introduced awareness.

Gemstone: I barely did anything.

Oracle: Correction is not selective.

The timelines around him were different now.

Not calm. Not flowing. Distorted.

One strand collapsed. Then another. A version of the city blinked out. A version of himself never formed.

Gemstone watched it and finally felt the real weight of returning.

Not just whether he could go back.

What each move would cost if he did.

Issue 3

The New Understanding

He looked back into the chamber, into the strands, into the places where his life had been bent before it ever had the chance to fully become itself.

This wasn’t just betrayal.

This wasn’t just pain with a story attached to it.

This was a system.

And now he was inside it on purpose.

That changed everything.

Because reacting was over.

The next move would have to be chosen.
